A creamy, frothy and delicious vegan gluten-free chocolate smoothie that support your hormone production and lifts your mood.
Something drove you to this article and it might be your immense cravings for chocolate or the fact that you are currently dealing with hormonal imbalances. Good thing: This recipe will help you with both!
When it is that time of the month, I usually get pimples and that is fine and I got used to it. A month ago, I would have much more pimples during the whole month and also dealt with fatigue and mood swings. Natural like Maca can help you naturally get a better skin, increase energy level by improving your sleeping quality and balance out your mood swings.
Of course, you can take medicine for stomach cramps or heavy period, but I learned that it is better than reducing the cramps and rather learning how to deal with them than just taking strong medicine that would knock me out and kill the pain. I try to reduce pills to a minimum and I only take them when it really gets worse. For me, cacao and maca really made the trick and I don’t know about you but I’d rather be addicted to a chocolate smoothie than pills!
Maca is the main actor in this smoothie as Maca has been used extensively as a hormone balancer, and according to research its high nutrient density and phytochemical content might be the underlying contributors to this effect.
The coconut milk in the shake can be replaced with any other nondairy milk, but I highly recommend taking the coconut one as Coconut contains lauric acid, which is really good for hormonal production and antibacterial and antiviral activities.
It provides a good source of plant-based iron (important when you lose a lot of blood) that can contribute to a diet sufficient at preventing anemia. Further, coconut milk is high in healthy fats that will fill you up with good nutrients and prevent overeating the day.
I also added some tahini for creaminess and because Tahini is a great way to obtain B vitamins like thiamine and minerals such as magnesium, copper, phosphorus, manganese, iron and zinc.
The chocolate smoothie is only sweetened with dates and a small frozen banana and no other sweetener. I added 4 Medjool dates but you can add more if you like to have a sweeter taste. I added pure coconut milk to the bottom of the smoothie, but this is just for reasons of having a good looking picture and not a must for you 🙂
I hope this chocolate smoothie can make your day better and satisfy your chocolate cravings! I would be very happy to see your own version on Social Media! Share it with me on my on Instagram @vanillacrunnch or leave a comment here!
