Gingerbread Brownies with a luscious dark chocolate glaze

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour (I used spelt flour)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ⅓ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup almond milk, room-temperature
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • a pinch of fine sea salt
  • -
  • 1 cup dark chocolate
  • ¼ cup full-fat coconut milk
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350F.
  2. In a large bowl combine the flour with the baking soda and the salt.
  3. In another bowl combine the cacao powder with the maple syrup, the coconut oil, apple sauce and all the spices.
  4. Add the flour mixture and the almond milk to the Cacao-syrup-oil mixture and combine.
  5. Oil brush your rectangular pan and pour the mixture into it.
  6. Bake for about 20-23 minutes.
  7. Let cool once they are done.
  8. For the ganache, carefully heat the milk and then add the chocolate. (don't overheat!)
  9. Stir until it is completely incorporated and smooth.
  10. Top over the gingerbread brownies and allow it to harden slightly before cutting
  11. Sprinkle with cinnamon for the sparkling gold effect
